Cruise... docked

Hey Happy Thanksgiving! I could ask you what you are doing online reading my blog when you should be basking in the love with your family and friends but.... hey, I'm here too, right?

If you will be continuing the tradition of avoiding family members, the day after, by going shopping, I encourage you to practice your avoidance at my store, Wingdoodle. We will probably be closing the store. We will definitely be closing it, as of Christmas, for the rest of the winter. We may re-open in the spring, but if we do, some things will have to be different. Either way, we have to clear out all the stock - which means awesome deals to be had for Holiday Shoppers! Check out the Wingdoodle blog for more info.

For those of you who are more into the Cyber Monday thing... (as I am), buy what you want at my Etsy shop - Bumblebat, and make sure to enter CyMon11 in the Promo Code box when you check out, to get 15% off your purchase. You have to actually enter it in the right spot to receive the discount, emailing me the code, won't work. ;-D

A couple of other things... the Tangle Cruise did not get enough advance sign-ups, although there WAS quite a bit of interest! So that is being put on a back burner for an option in the future. I got an awful lot of emails from people saying what fun that would be, but it is too expensive right now, or too far away, or a bunch of other things. Many claimed that if it were closer and cheaper they would LOVE to do a retreat with me. We'll see about that!

I am working on a retreat in Ogunquit, Maine for early spring and maybe another there for early fall. I'll let you know more details as I know them, but the spring one will be March 2 through 4.

{This bit here has been removed for now. More info later} ;-)

And since we are approaching that time of year where we either make resolutions we can't keep, or decide to upend our lives and start with a clean slate, I like to start obsessing early about my options. closing the store SHOULD be enough to satisfy either option, but I need more upheaval. I'll start on a few new projects with Fox Chapel Publishing after the New Year and I will not be teaching many classes for a while. I am working on an online class though and would love to get more feedback from you all. The main question is: What would you pay me to learn? (That's bad syntax, I think, but I hope you get my meaning?)

OK - off to the really important stuff. Everyone is finally asleep and there is a piece of apple pie calling my name...

  1. Sandy, I had considered the idea of online Zentangle classes, then dropped it because I think the "in person" element is really important. Still debating.

  2. If you would be the one teaching an online Zentangle class, I think it would be very helpful and fun!!. I have been trying to learn it through books, but if I could ask questions as I go along, and have "in person" attention (though it would be online in person) I think it would be a very good thing. To shorten that explanation up a bit! I'm interested. Are you actually wanting to know how much we'd pay for a class?

  3. I'm so sorry to hear that the store may be going away and just as I'm thinking retirement and would have time to do fun things. Thank goodness for the internet and the possibilities it offers.

  4. I agree! In person is best. I like to teach people thru books too. But I have been finding that I have a hard time getting people to come to NH to study with me. ;-D I'm thinking about different types of classes, not just Intro to ZT. So, I'd like to know what skills or information I possess that you all would like to learn - and what it would be worth to you - and your preferred format. Oh - so many choices!

  5. I have 4 of your books and love them all. They are all VERY informative. As to classes online, they seem to be very popular these days. What ever you do, I know it will be good. Sorry to hear about your shop, but know overhead can be expensive. Blessings!

  6. i love online classes! i would for sure sign up just for the chance to work with you. i have your books, of course, but working in a class environment with feedback is much better, more motivating. as for price, geesh, i'm afraid to say for fear of insulting you, LOL! i will say this, though ... most of the classes i take related to art range from $35-$70, depending on content and length of class. i've taken a digital photography class for $150, and i've taken writing classes for $300. but i'm less likely these days to sign up for anything that's over $100, not because the class isn't worth it, but because funds are limited and so i've cut back a bit on those.

    does this help at all??

glad you're enjoying your "sabbatical" and getting things done. sorry to hear about the shop, and also the cruise, which sounded lovely!

  7. I would take a class from you but it depends on how long it is etc.
I am taking a watercolor class online now. It is 4 weeks with 6 or so really short videos each week. I paid 40.00 for the class. Check out Creative classroom and maybe that will help.
