Goodbye Blogger

I have been ordered to SIMPLIFY my Life and to slow everything down - so I  thought I'd start with my online presence. Simplify. I have decided to stop using Blogger as my blogging platform. Patreon is an easier platform to use - I can post links and PDFs and videos, etc. very easily. This spring, I wrote a blog post about my thoughts about Patreon (read it HERE). And I will post more details on using Patreon below.

Here's the really important thing I need you to know!

Whether you are following this blog through Blogger, Facebook, Twitter, or you are subscribed to my MailChimp mailing list - please follow me on PATREON! I will not be posting here for the foreseeable future.

As incentive to get you all to migrate to my other site, I am posting my ebook, The Bauble Tree. You can download and read it and/or print it out for your personal amusement. This post will be public until January 2, 2020. After that, only Patrons will have access to it.

Note: Don't let the "Christmas" theme scare you off if that's not your thing. The techniques, thought process, tangles, and ideas can be applied to any of your projects or celebrations!

Patreon is like a blog, but with subscription options. You can Follow anyone you like (just like Facebook, etc.) or you can become a PATRON for a monthly fee and get added benefits. Either way, you'll need to create your own simple account (just like all other social media sites - and you can link your Facebook or Google accounts and use the same sign-in).

On the right hand side of the screen, you can see the TIERS with the different benefits...

When you click on the BECOME A PATRON button, you'll see all the options, or you can choose to simply FOLLOW (free). Note that, at the bottom of the screen, there's a button that says MAKE A CUSTOM PLEDGE - so you can put any amount you like... $1, $2, $50! It's also a great way to make a one-time contribution. You can pledge any amount and then cancel (or lower the amount after the billing cycle is complete).

On the main screen, just under the cat's paw in the banner, you can see "Overview" - "Posts" - and "Community". Click on "Posts" and you see this:

On the left side are different tags for posts - so if, for example, you only want to see posts about mental health... comics about the Demons, depression, etc. - you click the "mental" button. The first three, larger buttons, are for "Comic", "Sketchnote", and "Zentangle". The most recent post will be displayed in the center - you can change that with the toggle button on the upper right of the post.

Any of the posts that are "Public" will be visible if you are a follower, others will be gray and "Locked". If you are a "Patron", then you will see all the posts that you subscribe to as "Unlocked" (see the bottom right corner under the image). It's pretty simple. And the best part is that you can control what you get in your email inbox. In your own Profile/Account settings, you can turn on and off the various Notifications you get from each of the artists that you Follow or subscribe to.

By switching to Patreon, you save me a bucket of stress and a chunk of money. I can upload to Patreon on the go, and I can do away with my (expensive) MailChimp mailing list.

I will also keep posting images to Instagram - so feel free to FOLLOW me there as well!

And Happy Holidays!!
